Take Back Your Time: A Counter-Offensive to the Doom Scroll

Algorithms have run a highly profitable experiment on us—and they hijack our time, our attention spans, and our mental health.

It’s time for a counter-offensive.

Unforgetful was built to help you reclaim ownership of your time management. We refuse to let ourselves, or our families, be subjected to the bottomless rabbit hole of the infinite scroll. Whether you are a parent trying to protect your kids' focus, a young adult striving for deep work, or a teenager wanting to break the cycle of screen fatigue, this is your toolkit to build intentional digital habits.

Together, let’s unforget what’s truly important: there is a vibrant life off screen that deserves our full presence.

A Realistic Approach to Digital Discipline

Let’s face it: no app is a magic cure-all. Technology is deeply addictive, and building boundaries takes purposeful effort.

If you are a parent, Unforgetful won't entirely free you from the nitty-gritty of policing screen time. What it will do is give you a reliable tool to pull out the moment you notice habits slipping. It gives you a framework to lay down ground rules, execute them as a team, and guide young digital natives toward managing their own time.

Yes, there might be some pushback initially. But the payoff is entirely worth it.

You will be significantly happier when you pull your family out of marathon digital battles (e.g. Minecraft) and push them toward real-world passions—like tennis, baseball, or a walk outside—even for just a couple of hours. That sweaty, offline smile is worth the effort, and it’s something everyone will appreciate later in life.

Experienced any of these? Then you'll need some help

Endless battle on screen time

Your child promised to play for an hour, but you (with work and other things on hand) have to keep nagging them on and off for another hour to actually put the screen down.

Doom scrolling

This is not just on teenagers. We've all been there, scrolling for hours to just relax after a long day. Let's exercise our own muscle of self-discipline, shall we?

Forgetting is the easiest

When you fire up your stove to quickly fix a lunch when suddenly you receive a call and you need to step away from the kitchen. When you do come back, your food is burned (or worse).

What It Is & What It Isn't

Highlights

We know you don't want to switch your entire digital ecosystem just to get organized. That’s why Unforgetful works alongside what you already use, acting as a rapid-response tool to keep you grounded.

⏱️ Timers and Reminders

Adults can get lost in a loop of doom scrolling just as easily as curious teenage minds. We all just need a gentle nudge.

  • Instant Activation: Launch the app, the Put-phone-down timer starts running (after a certain time, more below).
  • Smart Scheduling: Configure the Put-phone-down timer to automatically trigger right when you open the app after a specific hour of the day.
  • No more than two taps away: Easily fire up your most frequent real-world reminders—whether it's a prompt to check the stove, a once-a-week library book exchange, or a monthly financial check-in.

📅 A Forward-Looking Calendar View

Instead of staring at a cluttered daily agenda, Unforgetful breaks your schedule down into intuitive columns of weeks. This layout makes it effortless to look ahead and see exactly what is happening next week, or two weeks from now.

📝 Dynamic Event Notes (Pack the Swim Gear!)

If your child has a recurring sport or activity on Saturday mornings, you can add a preparation note to the entire series, reminding you the morning of, or night prior or many nights prior:

💡 Prep Reminder: Pack the towel, backup clothes, gear, and goggles the night before!

📸 Flyer/Screenshot Scanner

We know how exhausting it is to manually type in dates from crumpled flyers, town sports schedules, or school printouts.

  • Scan Instantly: Take a photo of any printed schedule or flyer to instantly parse the dates into the app.
  • Seamless Integration: If you don't intend to abandon your primary calendar system, which is what we prefer, use this app to push a copy directly to your connected calendar(s).
<1 min a week, save hours or more

Let's be brutally honest, free time isn't that free. We've all been there: doom scrolling through Instagram or TikTok for multiple hours when we got a bunch of "free" time on hand, like after a long day. We didn't want to, or sometimes refused to acknowledge that the time lost in the digital black hole was a huge opportunity cost, the time we could have used to improve ourselves or take one thing off a long checklist toward a startup idea.

This where Unforgetful comes in. Indeed, this app will amount to nothing if you yourself, or your loved ones, do not want to rein in some slippery aspects of your digital lives. If willing, this app will quietly put up the guardrails and remind you that after a bit of indulgence, it's time to detox and live a life. We are not about zero indulgence. We are about being purposeful in using the most previous resource that could help us achieve great things. Or we will help other companies achieve their great financial performances.

Guess what, this app was designed to be used as little as possible, say a few seconds a day. You only really need to open it to start a timer that you really need to get running to remind you about important things in life: put phone down, stove check before heading to work, move a car, to mention a few that got us started. And if you are ambitious you could be saving more than a dozen hours for your productive work other than the not-that-entertaining media consumption. If that's you, set the put-phone-down timer to 20 min; or let it stay close to the default 40 min.

If you got a teenager or two in the house, this could also be an opportunity to sit them down and lay down some ground rules for them as well. Our wildest hope is for a lot of them to try this app and see if they find it helpful too. I am sure some of them will delete it in a day or two. If you know that your teenager has deleted the app, please drop us a note and share the harshest feedback on their behalf. We may not completely make them our satisfied customer, but we will try harder later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an invasive app, meaning does it track all my other apps, like social media and entertainment accounts to aggregate the amount of time I spend there each day?

No, this app doesn't track any of your usage data. It basically works alongside with your/your loved ones' volition. So if you guys proactively want to practice digital self-discipline, then this will help you immensely, by reminding you to put phone down after a certain time of continuous use (say 40 min, the default setting).
